Communio celebrates its foundation day

Eucharistic celebration in ‘’Parish Church of St. John the Baptist‘’, review of 40 years and solemn vespers on 8 December - founding mission still fulfilled today

Mechernich – ‘40 years ago, Mother Marie-Therese focussed on the idea of living love. She has remained so to this day,' emphasises Superior General Jaison Thazhathil of the Mechernich Ordo Communionis in Christo and announces its 40th founding commemoration on the second Sunday of Advent, 8 December, at 2 pm in the Mechernich parish church of St. Johannes Baptist.

The solemn Eucharistic celebration will then begin with the diocesan bishop His Excellency Dr Helmut Dieser, GdG leader and parish priest Fr. Erik Pühringer as well as ‘a number of other clergy, sisters and believers from different continents’. The church choir ‘St Cäcilia Mechernich’ under the direction of church musician Erik Arndt will provide the musical accompaniment.

Afterwards, there will be a brief review of 40 years of Communio over coffee and cake in St John's House next to the church. ‘Everyone is also very welcome to the solemn vespers on the second Advent at 6 pm in our house chapel,’ says Fr. Jaison Thazhathil.

„Together as one people of God“

With the community and mother house in Mechernich, the Christian groups of the Communio spread all over the world and the 'social work' consisting of the 'Hospice Stella Maris', the long-term care for the most seriously ill in Mechernich and the 'Haus Effata' nursing home in Blankenheim, the Ordo Communionis in Christo still fulfils its founding mission today.

True to the words of the founder, Mother Marie Therese: 'Love for all, live as Jesus lived, realise his kingdom here together as one people of God'.
