Mechernich – Bright sunshine, a relaxed atmosphere and plenty of reasons to be happy: the Communio in Christo social welfare organisation's summer party on Friday was a real highlight for the employees of the care facilities - and a strong gesture of mutual appreciation.
Managing Director Norbert Arnold opened the party with particularly good news: with retroactive effect from April, almost all of the approximately 250 employees at the long-term care facility, the Stella Maris hospice and the Effatta home for the elderly will receive a pay rise.
The applause was loud and sincere - after all, Arnold had struck a chord with the staff: "This is not only a sign of recognition, but also a necessary step in times of rising living costs," he emphasised: "We are pleased that this has been taken into account in the care rate negotiations with the health insurance companies."
International Soundtrack
More than 130 off-duty employees - over half of the entire workforce - accepted the invitation. The celebrations were held in and in front of the long-term care cafeteria: With a sumptuous buffet, cool drinks and a self-service ice cream bar, colleagues were able to take a deep breath and enjoy each other's company.
The creatively designed photo backdrop was a particular eye-catcher: There, guests could dress up and have their photos taken in changing groups. The pictures were printed out immediately - a popular souvenir to take home and smile about.
The party was also a musical expression of diversity: the music was freely selectable and international, so that the different cultures, languages and countries of origin of the workforce were reflected in the soundtrack of the day.
The atmosphere was cheerful and relaxed throughout, characterised by appreciation and a sense of community. Head of the facility Sonja Plönnes and Deacon Manfred Lang, Deputy Chairman of the Social Welfare Organisation and the General Superior, were delighted with the great togetherness together with those celebrating.
With each other, for each other
The Ordo Communionis in Christo under the leadership of Superior General Father Jaison Thazhathil was also present at the celebration - as were the Indian Samaritan Sisters and guests from Africa and India, who are currently visiting the motherhouse of the Communio. The international composition was also reflected in the friendly exchange - in the spirit of the Communio: with each other, for each other, across borders...
