"Impressive loyalty to the Council".

Communio priest Clement Aloyce Kihiyo (46) from Tanzania visits Mechernich a few days before the defence of his doctoral thesis at the University of Innsbruck.

Mechernich – Shortly before completing his doctorate on the vernacular in liturgy and pastoral care at the Faculty of Theology of the University of Innsbruck, the Tanzanian Communio priest Clement Aloyce Kihiyo (46) now visited the Motherhouse in Mechernich.

He had taken his vows in the founding chapel in 2016 in the hands of Superior General Karl-Heinz Haus. He first came into contact with the Communio in 2013 at a Communio meeting in the Benedictine Abbey of San Anselmo in Rome and then immersed himself in the books of the Foundress, Mother Marie Therese.

What impresses him about the Ordo Communionis in Christo is the unconditional commandment of love, the fidelity to the renewing Second Vatican Council and the fact that every member of the Communio works and lives wherever life places him or her. So not necessarily in the monastery, but also everywhere else in the world, at work, in pastoral care, in one's own family.

Professor for Liturgy

Father Clement Aloyce Kihiyo comes from a community in Tanzania missioned by Benedictines from the Archabbey of St. Ottilien. The parish of Sakharani also includes his village Baga, where he grew up with several siblings. His mother, who has since died, was a strict Catholic, his father was born a Muslim but converted to Christianity before he married.

In the seminary of the Tanga diocese, he was already responsible for the liturgy among the students. He will probably return to the seminary with a doctorate as a professor or take on a task assigned to him by his bishop. First, however, Clement Aloyce Kihiyo wants to work as a parish priest in Austria for a year, during which time he will be a frequent guest in Mechernich.
