Visit to Communio friends in Kerala

Rev. Fr. Jaison Thazhathil visited communities, members and friends of Communio in Christo in Kerala, India - Everyday work empowered by charity

Mechernich/Kerala –

During his trip to Kerala, India, Father Jaison Thazhathil, Deputy Superior General, visited communities, members and friends of Communio in Christo at their places of work, including a hospice, a university hospital and a printing house. He celebrated Holy Mass and received vows, made visits to the sick and met with the Superior General of the Indian Samaritan Sisters.

"At present we have priests, sisters and lay people in India who are friends and members of Communio in Christo. Through their testimonies and activities, Communio in Christo is growing," says Father Jaison Thazhathil. The Communio members in India live partly in communities and partly as individuals. They are engaged in various social and charitable works for the poor and needy, according to the motto of Communio in Christo "Caritas est Vivere in Deo" (Love of neighbour is life in God).

Thus, under the leadership of Father John Joseph CST, several sisters are currently working in two charitable homes - one for poor orphaned women and one for poor orphaned men. Around the clock, they care for them, provide food and medical care, and guide those who are able to work for themselves to earn a living.

Spirituality in everyday life

The sisters living as individuals mostly work in civil society and witness to the spirituality of the Communio in Christo through their life and work wherever they are. On many occasions they come together to spend a day in prayer, to share the spirituality of the Communio and to share a meal together.

In Kerala, Father Jaison Thazhathil also visited the printing house "St. Mary's Press" in the Major Archdiocese of Trivandrum. Two years ago, the Communio in Christo had donated a bookbinding machine there, where women can learn to bind books as part of a social project and thus finance their own livelihood.

Finally, a special meeting of the Communio friends took place in Potta, where Sister Sherly Rose pronounced her vows into the hands of Father Jaison Thazhathil during a Holy Mass. The Deputy Communio Superior General finally found time between Communio meetings for the real reason for his trip: Visiting his family in Kerala on the occasion of his parents' golden wedding anniversary.
