Indian bishop in Mechernich

Foundation of a separate Communio group planned in New Delhi

Mechernich - Bishop Thomas Mar Anthonios, the new bishop of the diocese of Gurgaon (Delhi), visited the motherhouse of the Ordo Communionis in Christo in Mechernich. The new Superior General Jaison Thazhathil had invited him to Mechernich the day before at a meeting in Dortmund. Jaison was a student of Bishop Thomas Mar Anthonios in the seminary in Kerala.

Spontaneously, the successor of Bishop Mar Barnabas, with whom the Communio maintained good contacts, accepted - and came for lunch and a conversation with leading staff members to the Motherhouse, where Mother Marie Therese had founded the Ordo on December 8, 1984. On that occasion, the bishop promised the Communio in Christo permanent links with his diocese and support for its expansion in India.

"The Communio novice Sister Shelly is already working with him in the diocese and is under his paternal guidance," said Superior General Jaison Thazhathil to the Mechernich "Citizen's Letter." Bishop Mar Anthonios promised to be helpful in building up a grouping, perhaps with its own House of Prayer in the Delhi area.
