Mechernich – For almost seven years, Tilj Puthenveettil has accompanied the Ordo Communionis in Christo as Secretary of the Order. For six years he served under Superior General Karl-Heinz Haus, and now under his successor, Father Jaison Thazhathil. His tasks are manifold: He is the first point of contact for all inquiries to the Superior General and to the Order as well as when it comes to appointments, visits or publications. He also assists in accompanying the many international guests visiting the Motherhouse in Mechernich as a competent interpreter. "After working in the corporate world for 15 years, I was happy to come back here to a familiar environment with clergy, priests and sisters - I really missed that after my seminary," says Tilj Puthenveettil.

The 43-year-old grew up in Marmagen, where his parents worked as nurses at the Eifelhöhen Clinic. In the early 1990s, he moved with his family to India, his parents' homeland. In Trivandrum in Kerala, he also attended the seminary and met Father Jaison Thazhathil there.

Suitable candidate

Both later moved to Germany: Father Jaison to the Communio in Christo and Tilj Puthenveettil first to Stuttgart, where he was employed as data security officer at the Bosch company. When Superior General Karl-Heinz Haus was searching for a new secretary, Father Jaison was able to suggest a suitable candidate to him.

"I always had great reverence for Superior General Karl-Heinz Haus, although at the same time he was a grandfatherly type and always encouraged the warm family atmosphere here at the Motherhouse," Tilj Puthenveettil says. As a confidant of Mother Marie Therese, it was important to Superior General Haus to bring her idea of communion to life.

After the election of Father Jaison Thazhathil as the new Superior General, Tilj Puthenveettil is now happy to be able to work as Secretary of the Order with someone whom he has known for so long. He sees in the new Superior General someone who wants to strengthen the Ordo Communionis in Christo and lead it into the future - with the focus both on the Motherhouse and on the communities in other countries of the world.

Link to the outside world

Tilj Puthenveettil is also well equipped for international communication. He not only acts as an interpreter for German, English and Malayalam in the Communio motherhouse, but also accompanies the guests of the Communio in official matters - for example, when it comes to visa matters or the recognition of a driver's license.

The 43-year-old family man is also an important link when it comes to the (digital) image of the order to the outside world. For example, he is involved with the Order's Digital Spiritual Letter and the monthly newsletter.

Data protection, communication with people in different languages and a spiritually shaped working environment in his Eifel home - it seems as if Tilj Puthenveettil has landed in the right place as Secretary of the Order.
