Pastoral support

Father Jaimson from Kerala, India, is expected to spend a year as a guest of the Ordo Communionis in Christo - supporting the community as a priest in the religious area as well as in the institutions of Sozialwerk Communio in Christo e. V.

Mechernich – Since the beginning of the year, Father Jaimson from Kerala, India, has been a guest at the Ordo Communionis in Christo. It is expected that the priest, whose full name is Jaimson Mathew Kizhakkevila, will spend a year supporting the community as a priest both in the order and in the institutions of the social organisation Communio in Christo e. V..

Rev. Jaimson comes from a religious family where he was involved in the activities of the Christian community from an early age. He has already been living in the Christian community for 14 years as part of his priestly training and appreciates the togetherness of the people there as well as at Communio in Christo: "When different people from different places and cultures come together and live together, pray together and eat together, they share the message of the Kingdom of God - and that is also the spirit of the Catholic Church."

After his priestly ordination two years ago, Father Jaimson was appointed secretary to Cardinal Baselios Cleemis, Major Archbishop of Trivandrum and head of the Syro-Malankara Church. Father Jaimson: "After one year, my bishop encouraged me to start studying German so that in future I can support the Communio in Christo in Germany in its spiritual and social activities. Later, I may also be able to work in a parish here and strengthen the Catholic Church."

Clear goal set

Shortly afterwards, the young priest began his language studies, which he is currently continuing with a daily language course in Cologne. The 29-year-old's daily schedule is correspondingly tightly structured, because in addition to the language course, he also has his spiritual obligations at the Communio in Christo as well as his studies and readings. But Father Jaimson has set himself a clear goal: "My first and most important goal is to master the German language very well. Now I'm just concentrating on that."

In his free time, the young priest likes to devote himself to music - whether as a listener or even as a singer. "I love music very much," emphasises the 29-year-old, who also enjoys cooking or reading books. He is also working with discipline to improve his knowledge of the Latin liturgy.

Father Jaimson has been living in the Ordo Communionis in Christo for almost four months now - and is impressed by the lifestyle and activities in the community: "I discover new things here every day and learn something new.
